On March 25, 2024, the bachelor and master students of the educational program “Fashion Design” of the Department of Art and Fashion Design visited the project and experimental base of KASS the fashion brand. The students, as well as Kalyna Pashkevych, guarantor of the “Fashion Design” educational program of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education, Dean of the Faculty of Design, Professor, Nataliia Chuprina, Head of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, Professor, visited the experimental workshop of the enterprise, where they got acquainted with modern equipment and design processes of creating fashionable clothing collections. During the tour, the students had an opportunity to carefully study the means and methods of shaping and modeling clothing details and the principles of developing model structures of various products.
Nataliia Yevdokimova, the leading designer of KASS brand, told the students how to correctly write a description of the artistic and technical solution of a clothing model. She emphasized the importance of careful development of drawings of construction details and structural and decorative elements of clothing of various assortments, cut and silhouette, taking into account the properties of materials and manufacturing technologies of clothing for various purposes and assortments.
The students had an opportunity to attend several fitting sessions conducted by Bohdan Kass, founder of the brand, famous Ukrainian designer, graduate of KNUTD. The designer held an express master class, demonstrating how to perform a fitting and evaluate the quality of the fit of the model on the figure of the consumer or the product on the mannequin and eliminate the defects of the clothing models.
Yulia Shcherba, the leading cutter of KASS designer brand, drew the students’ attention to the peculiarities of the development of products from various materials, introduced the latest equipment for cutting and manufacturing clothing models, and justified the importance of comprehensive professional education for future clothing designers.
Bohdan Kass is an active partner and stakeholder of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, regularly conducts master classes for students, is a member of the jury of creative competitions for young designers, cooperates in the field of organization and conduct of production and pre-diploma practice, participates in round tables dedicated to the improvement of educational programs "Fashion Design" of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education.
