LECTURE BY THE FAMOUS UKRAINIAN ARTIST MATVII VEISBERG FOR KNUTD STUDENTS

On 27 March 2024, a meeting with the famous Ukrainian painter, graphic artist and book illustrator Matvii Vaisberg took place. The lecture-dialogue on “CONTEMPORARY ART” was held in a friendly and creative atmosphere of learning about Ukrainian art.

Matviі Vaisberg is a member of the All-Ukrainian Creative Union of Artists "BZH-ART", one of the founders of the "Kyiv Rearguard" movement, the author of illustrations for the works of Sholem Aleichem, K. Jung, José Ortega y Gasset, and others. The works of the outstanding artist have been presented in numerous personal and group exhibitions in Ukraine, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Poland, Georgia, the Netherlands, and many other countries of the world.

During the meeting, Matvii Semenovych told the audience about his biography, the way he became an artist and a famous personality, the main areas of his activity and creativity, about his own projects, such as the unique art project "WALL" – 28 paintings he created over 40 days in January-March In 2014, during the events of the Revolution of Dignity, the symbolic mural in Babyny Yar, book editions "Travel Diary", "Memories", etc.

The artist’s vast experience and encyclopaedic knowledge of art fascinated the audience. It was interesting for the students to hear about contemporary art trends and the development of the Ukrainian art school. The talented artist is thoughtful in creating his masterpieces, has a rich arsenal of techniques and tools that he uses in his work. The artist also spoke about the works of prominent Ukrainian artists: Alla Horska, Oleksandr Roitburg, Ihor Dychenko, Vladyslav Shereshevsky, Olha Petrova, and others.

 

The lecture was attended by university professors and students of the Faculty of Design, the Faculty of Arts and Fashion, and other faculties and institutes of KNUTD. Students and professors actively asked questions about contemporary Ukrainian artists, modern trends in Ukrainian painting, and current trends in art.
