On November 16-18, 2023, the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference «KyivLvivPharma-2023. Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacology in Ensuring Active Longevity» was held at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) and Lviv Polytechnic National University. The conference was held in a face-to-face and remote form using ZOOM technical means.
As part of the Internal Academic Mobility Program academic staff, students and postgraduate students of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy and Department of Chemical Technologies and Resource Saving of KNUTD visited Lviv Polytechnic National University, where they presented the results of their scientific achievements at the Conference «KyivLvivPharma-2023».
The conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Сo-organised were L.M. Litvinenko Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry and Coal Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The main partner of the conference was the joint-stock company «Farmak» – the leader of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Ukraine. The partner of the conference was also LLC «Norla-Ukraine». The main media partner was APTEKA Weekly.

The conference «KyivLvivPharma-2023» was attended by more than 100 participants from different countries, including Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, France, Switzerland, USA, Israel and Estonia. The conference has become a powerful platform for sharing scientific and practical experience of achievements in the field of drug development and production, discussing the prospects of development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and its European integration, as well as the problems of training specialists for the Pharmaceutical Industry of Ukraine.
During the opening ceremony of the conference, held on November 16, 2023, the participants of the event were welcomed:

- Volodymyr KORUD – Vice President of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The plenary session «Pharmaceutical Science in Ensuring Active Longevity. Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Biogerontology: New Challenges of the 21st Century» was held at a high scientific level. The plenary session featured speeches by:
- Dr. med Hans GROTH, Chairman, Max Huenges, Research Fellow World Demographic & Ageing Forum (WDA Forum), St. Gallen, Switzerland on the topic «Demography - Impact on National Security and Development: Case Study Ukraine»;
- Roman LESYK, Doctor of Pharmacy, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznan (Poland) on the topic «Thiazole/thiazolidinone derivatives. 20 years of experience in the search for new biologically active molecules»;
- Rostyslav STOIKA, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member NAS of Ukraine, Head of Department of Regulation of Cell Proliferation and Apoptosis, Institute of Cell Biology, NAS of Ukraine on the topic «Covalent and non-covalent modification of synthetic and natural heterocyclic compounds for enhancement of their anticancer action»;
- Andrii SMAHLO, Head of the Technological Laboratory of the Research Center of JSC «Halychpharm», expert in the development of drugs based on plant materials on the topic «Modern approaches to improving the quality of human life»;
- Volodymyr BESSARABOV, Doctor of Technology, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design on the topic «Implementation of the "green chemistry" principles for the sustainable development of technologies of active pharmaceutical ingredients of geriatric drugs»;
- Vira LUBENETS, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of Lviv Polytechnic National University on the topic «Thiosulfonates: reagents, biologically active compounds, prospects for use as APIs».
After the plenary session, the conference continued in sections, during which a lively discussion was sparked by the report of Liudmyla PETROVSKA, Doctor of Pharmacy, Associate Professor of the Department of Cosmetology and Aromatology of the National University of Pharmacy on the topic «Experience and Prospects for Training Specialists in the Development and Technology of Cosmetic Products».
Inna BARANOVA, Doctor of Pharmacy, Professor of the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy at the National Pharmaceutical University spoke about the specifics of daily labeling of cosmetic products (labeling elements, information signs, graphic symbols, labels, etc.).
The conference participants also showed great interest in the report by Olena FEDOROVA, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of Lviv Polytechnic National University on the topic «Creation of modern medical and cosmetic products based on natural raw materials».
The first day of the conference ended with a panel discussion, which discussed important topical issues related to the design of training of specialists in Industrial Pharmacy and the compatibility of the higher education standard in the specialty 226 Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy and the professional standard «Industrial Pharmacist». The moderators of the conference were Vira LUBENETS, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of Lviv Polytechnic National University and Vladyslav STRASHNYI, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The discussion was actively participated by Oleksandr KUKHTENKO, Doctor of Pharmacy, Professor, Head of the Department of Pharmaceuticals Technology of National University of Pharmacy, Volodymyr BESSARABOV, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, Aelita KRYCHKOVSKA, PhD in Pharmacy, Associate Professor of the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Olena ROIK, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD.
November 17, the second day of the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference «KyivLvivPharma-2023. Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacology in Ensuring Active Longevity» turned out to be no less intense, productive and informative than the first one.
On this day, the reports presented in the section «Pharmaceutical science in ensuring the defense capability of the state» aroused great interest among a wide range of participants. Liubov VAKHITOVA, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Physical-Organic Chemistry and Coal Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and pedagogical staff of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, namely Galyna KUZMINA, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, Olena ROIK, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD and Viktoriia LYZHNIUK, a postgraduate student of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD, a researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology, Chemogenomics and Biogerontology presented reports on the creation of decontamination systems for chemical warfare agents, means for treating wounds and rehabilitation of soldiers, who bring our Victory closer.
The second day of the conference also featured a panel discussion moderated by Olena SALIY, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor, CEO of BIOTESTLAB Ltd. The discussion was devoted to the issue of compatibility of lean pharmaceutical manufacturing with GMP. Experts from Farmak JSC and academic staff of KNUTD and Lviv Polytechnic National University took an active part in this discussion.
Also during the second day of the Сonference «KyivLvivPharma-2023», at the Department of Technology of Biologically Active Substances, Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the of Lviv Polytechnic National University, a poster session was held for students of higher education, based on the results of which the best youth scientific works were selected and the winners were determined:
1st place – Anastasia BEHDAI for the work «In vitro study of the effect of desloratadine and loratadine on 15-lipoxygenase» (Department of Industrial Pharmacy, KNUTD);
2nd place – Artem KHARCHENKO for the work «Functionalized vitaminized product with antioxidant properties» (Department of Industrial Pharmacy, KNUTD);
3rd place – Sofia KLIUCHYK for the work «Applications for Improving the Quality of Life» (Department of TBSFB, Lviv Polytechnic National University).
All winners of the poster session were awarded valuable gifts.
At the end of the conference «KyivLvivPharma-2023», the staff of the Department of Industrial Pharmacy of KNUTD prepared a sweet gift for colleagues from Lviv Polytechnic National University – a celebration cake, which was a delicious decoration of the evening.
