LECTURE BY ANDREAS MARKDALEN (ITALY) FOR FUTURE DESIGNERS

On November 22, 2023, the students and lecturers of the Faculty of Design attended an online lecture by Andreas Markdalen, global creative director of Frog Company, held by KNUTD partners Domus Academy (Italy) as part of the disrupting Patterns Talk lecture series.

The online lecture was attended by teachers and students of the bachelor's and master's degree programs of the Faculty of Design (educational programs "Fashion Design", "Multimedia Design", "Graphic Design", "Environmental Design", "Design (by type)") and graduate students of the Faculty of Design (educational program "Design").

Andreas Markdalen shared his more than 20 years of experience at the forefront of establishing relationships with renowned international brands across industries and design fields. As the company's chief commercial officer, Andreas is responsible for positioning and developing the brand's strategy in the marketplace, while promoting the principles of human-centered, empathetic and results-driven design processes to foster a strong culture and community both inside and outside the organization.

The lecturer spoke about the use of artificial intelligence in various design areas, innovations in wearable technologies, emphasized the importance of developing designer's creativity to make various design objects, prototyping as a development methodology, and the use of modern technologies.

The lecturer spoke about the fashion of the future, the directions of development of the industry of things, approaches to creating innovations, and emphasized the importance of an ecological, ethical approach and the concept of smart consumption. "Humanity "tells stories" through graphic design in computer games, movies, videos, mobile applications, etc., influencing the general consciousness of humanity”, Andreas said.

He also spoke about the modern narratives of contemporary design: social impact on humanity, creation of creative products, focus on humanism and human centricity.

The lecture was interesting for future designers because the speaker offered a new and unusual view of design as an activity that combines innovative technologies, artificial intelligence, psychology, and other aspects of science, technology, and art. That is, design is not only about creation, but also a concept of new thinking that covers all areas of modern life.

We thank Domus Academy, KNUTD's partner in the CUMULUS association, for the informative lecture and the opportunity to gain knowledge about the latest developments in design!
