Results of the 4th All-Ukrainian Conference of Higher Education Seekers and Young Scientists "Innovation in Education, Science and Business: Challenges and Opportunities"

Following the annual tradition, on November 17, 2023, as part of the celebration of International Students' Day, the IV All-Ukrainian Conference of Higher Education Seekers and Young Scientists "Innovation in Education, Science and Business: Challenges and Opportunities" was held at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and with the support of the international project "INTREPID-HEI".

 The objective of the conference is to share scientific achievements and practical experience in the application of innovative developments in education, business and science by higher education seekers, young scientists and business, which is extremely relevant today in the difficult realities of wartime. The conference was held in a mixed format in compliance with all safety conditions.

The conference was co-organized by leading higher education institutions of Ukraine, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Poland, including: Danube University in Sladkovicevo (Slovak Republic), European Institute of Continuing Education (Slovak Republic), Higher School of Business in Dombrowa Gurnic (Republic of Poland), Škoda Auto University (Czech Republic), Lithuanian Business College (Republic of Lithuania), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Sumy National Agrarian University, Odesa State Academy of Construction and Architecture, Lviv University of Trade and Economics, Uzhhorod National University, Chernihiv Polytechnic National Universitу, Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, West Ukrainian National University, Educational Investment and Technology Cluster of Light Industry and Scientific Society of Students and Postgraduates of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

The conference included a ceremonial plenary session, the announcement of the results and winners of the BEST STARTUP KNUTD 2023 competition, as well as further workshops in the following thematic areas (platforms):  

Platform 1: Innovative Development of Education, Cultural and Creative Industries of Ukraine in Post-War Reconstruction.

Platform 2. Innovation in Science: State and Challenges in Wartime Conditions.

Platform 3: Innovation in Business: Realities in the Conditions of War.

 

On behalf of Ivan GRYSHCHENKO, Rector of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Doctor of Science in Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, the plenary session of the conference was opened by Liudmyla HANUSHCHAK-YEFIMENKO, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of KNUTD, Professor, Doctor of Science in Economics.

Ms. Liudmyla addressed all the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech, thanked the audience and the domestic and international co-organizers who joined the conference, noting "...our conference is traditional...it is held for the fourth time in a row, unites like-minded people both among the scientific community and among business in the field of innovative technologies...the development of the startup movement of the University is extremely important, especially in the context of the struggle for the independence of our state against the aggressor". Ms. Liudmyla also added that "...we should tirelessly and humbly thank the researchers, mentors and administrative staff for the formation of such scientifically active youth...".

Professor Peter PLAVČAN, Rector of the Danube University in Sladkovice, Slovakia, welcomed the conference participants from Slovakia and noted that "...the topic of the conference is very important...because science overcomes barriers..." and shared with the audience his successful experience of working with startup projects in the Slovak Republic.

Viktoriia MARHASOVA, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, addressed the conference with sincere greetings to the scientific and business community. She noted the relevance of the conference topic, drew attention to the fact that the conference, within its thematic focus, "...raises important issues related to the challenges and opportunities for their implementation..." in the field of innovation, and wished the students "...creative ideas and a fruitful and productive day."

As part of the conference, the honorable Mr. Jozef ZAŤKO, Doctor of Law, Doctor of Philosophy, President of the European Institute of Continuing Education (Slovak Republic), congratulated the conference participants on International Students' Day and thanked them for their longstanding friendship and cooperation, as well as partnership.

At the plenary session, the conference participants received extraordinary support and congratulations on the development of student youth science in the realities of military conditions, with faith in the Victory of Ukraine, from long-term partners of the University, representing higher education institutions of Ukraine, public administration and the business community, in particular from:

Iryna Azhaman, Doctor of Economics, Professor, acting Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the Odesa State Academy of Construction and Architecture;

Viktoriia HOTRA, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Professor of the Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship of Uzhhorod National University;

Zhanna Zhygalkevych, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Professor of the Department of Industrial Marketing at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”;

Olena Ptashchenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Professor of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Trade at the West Ukrainian National University;

Kostyantyn PAVLOV, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Chairman of the Board of Institute for Economic, Environmental and Energy Research, Professor of the Department of Economics and Trade of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University;

Viktoriia ILIASHENKO, Doctor of Science in Public Administration, Professor, Head of the Department of Analytical and Archival Work of the Kyiv Court of Appeal.


As part of the conference plenary session, the winners of the BEST KNUTD STARTUP 2023 startup competition were announced.

For open voting, 35 startups were presented by students of KNUTD and other universities of Ukraine. Among them, by open vote (2218 votes in total), the competition committee selected top ten startup projects for evaluation, which included the following startups:

At the end of the plenary session, Vice-Rector Liudmyla HANUSHCHAK-YEFIMENKO thanked all the participants, congratulated the students on their day and wished them inspiration and a peaceful sky.

After a short break, the conference workshops began.

The sectional meeting of the joint conference platforms, namely Platform 1: Innovative Development of Education, Cultural and Creative Industries of Ukraine in Post-War Reconstruction and Platform 2. Innovation in Science: State and Challenges in Wartime Conditions took place online. The meeting was attended by seekers of the first (bachelor's), second (master's), third (educational and scientific) higher education and young scientists who reported the results of scientific research under the guidance of leading university scientists.

The conference was moderated by Natalia OSTAPENKO, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, who sincerely congratulated the youth on International Students' Day and emphasized the courage, professionalism and commitment to the ideals of education and science demonstrated by Ukrainian students and teachers in the midst of war.

The meeting featured 13 informative reports by participants, accompanied by interesting presentation materials. The topics were relevant, quite broad, and concerned the innovative development of science, education, cultural and creative industries of Ukraine in the context of the realities of war and post-war reconstruction.

The online section featured presentations by: Dmytro PATLUN (Metal-hydride air battery as an alternative to traditional chemical current sources); Denys BOBER, Glib SERHIENKO (Error analysis when using the local Moivre-Laplace function to approximate Bernoulli's formula); Mykhailo MISYATS (Review of footwear and textile technologies related to flexible parts); Zhigad ZHLALI (Features of using CAD Fusion 360 in the machine-building industry); Alina KICHUK (Analysis of design and technological solutions for overalls for military aviation pilots); Victoria DZUBENKO (Application of matrices in chemistry); Anna IVANENKO (Reflective knitwear as a guarantee of children's safety on the road); Anna DZIKEVYCH (Integration of innovative solutions into the lighting design interactive space); Artur SHARENKO (Features of hotel interior design during martial law in Ukraine); Olena MYKHALCHUK (Cultural traditions and innovations in the digital age); Lilia ZIMINA (The problem of translation and interpretation of pharmaceutical terms); Sofia BONDARCHUK (English as a lingua franca of the modern world: Multimodal learning technologies); Anna KLYMENKO (Prospects for the development of castle tourism in Ukraine).

The audience remained active and interested until the last presentation of the conference section. It is worth noting the breadth of thinking and the unquenchable desire for new knowledge of the first (bachelor's) degree seeker of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Zhigad ZHLALI, who actively participated in the discussion of the presented materials and made a positive impression on the audience.

Summarizing the work of the sectional workshop, the moderator noted the high scientific level of the presented research, sincerely thanked the supervisors for their efforts in preparing the participants' reports, emphasized the intense fruitful work, friendly discussion, which contributed to the expansion of valuable experience in scientific research, communication and was very useful and informative for both students and teachers.

As part of the IV All-Ukrainian Conference of Higher Education Seekers and Young Scientists "Innovation in Education, Science and Business: Challenges and Opportunities" held by the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design on November 17, 2023, the higher education seekers of the Faculty of Management and Business Design took an active part in the sectional meeting of the thematic Platform 3. "Innovation in Business: Realities in the Conditions of War".

  

The moderator of the platform, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Business Design, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Oleksandra OLSHANSKA, noted the active participation of the Faculty of Management and Business Design in the startup project competition and congratulated the winners – the startup project of the Department of Marketing and Communication Design “ShelterBag” for taking the third place and the startup project "Comfort Zone" of the Department of Management and Smart Innovations for winning the nomination "The Choice of Students".

During the conference, the participants presented their reports on topical issues, engaged in lively discussions, and expressed their attitudes to the issues raised in the reports.

 The section was opened by Dmytro FONTALIN, a postgraduate student of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting, with a report on "Problems and prospects for the development of the current system of insurance services regulation in Ukraine" and Irina SVERGUN, a postgraduate student of the Department of Smart Economics, with a presentation on "Strategies for the development of IT business in Ukraine".

The higher education seekers presented reports on relevant topics:

Maksym MARKITAN, PhD student of the Department of Marketing and Communication Design – "Mobile application for shelter search";

Maksym MUDRYI, a student of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business – "Maneuverability of the innovative potential of industry through cross-cluster interaction in war conditions";

Ostap ONISHCHENKO, PhD student of the Department of Management and Smart Innovations – "Formation of a model of competencies of a 21st century leader";

Anastasiia KURUSHKINA, PhD student of the Faculty of Arts and Fashion – "Research on Changes in the Behavior of Clothing Consumers in War."

Anna SOROKA, PhD student of the Department of Finance and Business Consulting – "Theoretical aspect of studying the system of management of financial and economic security of the enterprise";

Bohdan SOLYAR, PhD student of the Department of Marketing and Communication Design – "Innovative marketing tools for light industry enterprises";

Mykhailo ZAKARLIUKA, PhD student of the Department of Smart Economics – "Prospects for the restoration of economic activity of Ukrainian enterprises in the current realities".

  

Summarizing the work of the sectional workshop, it should be noted that it was held at a high organizational level, the testing of abstracts, initiatives of students, panel discussions and discussion results showed the interest of students in the development of science and innovation and became another step towards the formation of the innovative ecosystem of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

The IV All-Ukrainian Conference of Higher Education Seekers and Young Scientists "Innovation in Education, Science and Business: Challenges and Opportunities" is a platform for the development of the startup movement both at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design and in our country, which is gaining momentum every year, motivating active innovative youth to new scientific achievements and achievements, confirming the entrepreneurial format of KNUTD in action, when cooperation between the state, science, education and business is a synergistic quadrangle of knowledge of innovative development.
