STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ART AND FASHION DESIGN VISIT THE EXHIBITION OF TRADITIONAL UKRAINIAN AND CRIMEAN TATAR CLOTHING

On October 18, 2023, students of the EP "Fashion Design" together with the curator Nadiia Liuklian, assistant of the Department of Art and Fashion Design, visited the National Center of Folk Culture "Ivan Honchar Museum", where an exhibition of traditional Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar clothing from the private collections of Valery Afanasyev, Ihor Perevertniuk, Bohdan Petrychuk, Olena Skrypka, Rustem Skybin, and Volodymyr Shchybri.

The exhibition presents samples of festive clothing from the Poltava region, Kyiv region, Slobozhan region (Kharkiv, Sumy, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions), Chernihiv region, Polissia, Hutsul region, Pokuttia, Bukovyna, Podillia, and Crimea.

The exhibition aims to restore and strengthen interest in the values that underlie Ukrainian identity. Petro Honchar, the initiator and curator of the exhibition, notes: “Communicating with our heritage, behind which the lives of many generations of Ukrainians stand, we become mentally stronger, unite around common values with different generations. This exhibition should once again remind us what the Ukrainian struggle is for and add strength on the way to our Victory”.

The students left a note in the visitor's book thanking them for the opportunity to visit this original exhibition, which expanded their knowledge of the rich world of traditional Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar clothing, as well as inspired new creative achievements in clothing design.
